A devastating incident occurred on Monday afternoon, July 22, 2024, at Robins Air Force Base, resulting in the tragic death of a 14-year-old boy and injuring three other minors. Houston County Coroner James Williams reported that the collapse happened around 3 p.m. The incident caused significant injuries to four minors, one of whom was treated on scene, while the other three were rushed to local hospitals. Her grandson and step-grandson suffered non-life-threatening injuries, with one sustaining broken ribs and a collapsed lung. Noles recounted that her grandson had noticed cracks and chipped mortar around the base of the wall prior to the collapse, a detail that may prove crucial in the investigation.

“I did ask my grandson if he noticed anything unusual about the wall, and he did say that he noticed some of the mortar had cracked and chipped around the bottom of the wall,” Noles said. Despite their physical injuries, the emotional toll has been significant, as the boys were heartbroken to learn that their friend did not survive. “We are very saddened by the loss of the other young man and we are keeping his family in our prayers,” Noles added.
