High Rise Glass Bottom Pool a First For Canada

While traveling to Canada I recently had the opportunity to check out the amazing swimming pool at ARC Vancouver. The ARC tower is a mixed-use building with residential units, commercial space, and amenities for residents.

The ARC is located in the Yaletown neighborhood of Vancouver, close to restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. The building has a sleek and modern design, with floor-to-ceiling windows and a striking curved glass facade. Suspended directly below a bridge in the middle of the building sits a glass bottom swimming pool offering breathtaking views of the city below.

Reminiscent of the Sky Pool in London, Canada’s 200-foot-high see-through indoor swimming pool sits 20 floors above street traffic. Measuring 38 feet across, the ARC’s pool is truly a sight to behold, with crystal clear water that allows swimmers to see straight through to the streets below. The floor of the pool is made entirely of transparent acrylic, giving the impression that swimmers are floating above the city.

The ARC’s glass-bottomed swiming pool is not only a stunning architectural feat, but it’s also a revolutionary concept in pool design. It’s the first of its kind in Canada and has rapidly become be a major draw for both tourists and locals alike.

Only three companies in the world have the technology to make the six-inch thick acrylic glass that covers the entire area of the pool’s floor and can support the weight of approximately 1,650 automobiles.

The tower’s pool is the showpiece, but the bright ‘Ode to Canada’ ceiling design is a nice touch as well. When night falls, the pool’s reflective ceiling turns its floor into a beacon for passersby below. Looking up at the masterpiece from the pool’s depths reveals a smudge of beautiful colors.

The pool is open to both residents of the ARC and members of the public, and offers a variety of amenities including lounge chairs, cabanas, and a poolside bar. It’s the perfect spot to relax and soak up the sun, while enjoying the breathtaking views of the city.
