IPSSA Dallas Chapter Launches Non-Profit to Fund Swim Scholarships and Support Families Impacted by Drowning

The Independent Pool and Spa Service Association (IPSSA) Dallas Chapter has officially launched a new 501(c)(3) nonprofit coalition dedicated to expanding access to swim education for children and providing grief counseling to families affected by drowning tragedies.

Led by Brian McDonald, President of the IPSSA Dallas Chapter, the organization was formed in response to a growing need for life-saving swim instruction in underserved communities and emotional support for families navigating the devastating loss of a loved one.

North Texas Drowning Awareness Coalition: A Mission Rooted in Prevention, Education, and Healing

“Our mission is simple but powerful,” said McDonald. “We want to provide swimming lessons through scholarships to children who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to learn this critical life skill. At the same time, we’re committed to offering counseling resources to families who have experienced drowning loss — something that can be absolutely life-altering for parents.”

The newly formed board brings together leaders from across the pool and spa industry, including two IPSSA chapter presidents, a regional director, a regional treasurer, representatives from POOLCORP and Texas Pool Supply, and a regional manager from a major pool product manufacturer. This collaborative approach ensures both industry expertise and community impact remain at the heart of the organization.

Although newly established, the coalition is already gaining momentum, with IPSSA chapters contributing donations to support its initiatives. Several fundraising and awareness events are currently in development, aimed at expanding the program’s reach and building sustainable resources for swim education and family support.

Drowning remains one of the leading causes of accidental death among children, making early access to swim instruction more important than ever. By combining scholarship-funded lessons with compassionate counseling services, the coalition seeks to address both prevention and healing.

“We’re just getting started,” McDonald added. “But with the support of our chapters, partners, and the broader pool industry, we believe we can make a meaningful difference — saving lives through education and helping families through unimaginable loss.”

The IPSSA Dallas Chapter is currently seeking community partners, sponsors, and media support to help amplify its mission and upcoming events.

CCEI-Antea VS + phone app

CCEI is pleased to introduce the new Antea VS– a new innovation that allows management of variable speed pumps by seamlessly integrating them into CCEI Vigipool ecosystem.  This ultra-compact antenna can be installed effortlessly on a wide range of pumps, delivering advanced connectivity and smart control at your fingertips with the Vigipool app.

With the Antea VS pool professionals can control and configure the pump room from anywhere.  Simply plug the antenna into a 12-15 VAC (50-60 Hz) outlet, then connect to the pump and within minutes you have full control on your smartphone. The system automatically adjusts pump room speed based on real-time environmental conditions—such as water temperature and pool cover status—while always giving users the freedom to manually select preferred pump speeds at any time.

To unlock its full potential, the Antea VS is engineered to work alongside the Tild VP automation system which governs the pump’s electrical supply and serves as the backbone of the pump room. Together they control power, filtration, lighting and variable speed pumps using the Vigipool app.
