Why Buy a Pool Float?

Other than the obvious reason of wanting a place to lay down and enjoy effortless relaxation in the pool, floats also make good training tools. If you have small children who aren’t strong experienced swimmers, having a few floaties around is a smart idea. Aside from providing a fun area to lounge, floats are excellent training devices to acclimatize swimmers until they become more experienced. Swimmers of all ability levels may find a pool float useful.

Pool Float Features

Popular brands of pool floats being sold today include features like cup holders and headrests. Floats that self-inflate and have handles are also great features to look for. Fast inflating valves are another important feature you may want. If you plan on transporting a large float, you’ll want to purchase one that has handles on it.

Premium floats and rafts are best purchased at the beginning of the swim season as inventory will be tougher to find at the height of the summer. Consequently, when purchasing a pool float you should be looking at safety valves, multiple air chambers, and a low center of gravity. These are all important things to look for when purchasing a pool float. Many popular brands of floats come with a sun canopy to provide an additional layer of protection from the harmful UV rays of the sun.

Storing Your Floats

The one thing to know about floats is that they can take up an awful lot of space. Properly storing them in the off-season is important. Ensure your floats are well maintained and ready for another fun summer of usage by purchasing float storage. This will protect them from inclement weather in the winter months and keep them in ready-to-use condition.

What we love about this product is its easy access. Mesh pockets around the pool organizer make it easy to retrieve small pool toys, balls, and pool safety equipment. Wheels on the bottom make it easy to roll out when it’s time to swim and out of sight when playtime in the pool is over.

Don’t Forget Your Float Accessories

Choosing a pool float is the hard part, finding accessories to go with your float to make it easy to transport and inflate is the easy part. Nobody likes blowing up a huge float but everyone enjoys laying on them. Purchasing a pump and a bag to store your floats is always a smart idea. While many floats come with a cup holder or hidden compartment for snacks, you may also want to consider purchasing a separate float for food and beverages. They make a convenient serving table and are a great float accessory. You may also want to purchase a small floating Bluetooth speaker so you can enjoy your tunes in the pool without worrying about ruining your smartphone.

How Long Do Floats Last?

This is a question many folks ask when purchasing a pool float. Many consumers notice that cheaper pool floats tend to not even make it through a full season before they begin to deflate.

Nothing beats relaxing in a pool float on a hot summer day, but unfortunately, floats don't last very long.
Nothing beats relaxing in a pool float on a hot summer day, but unfortunately, floats don’t last very long.

When searching for the best pool floats, know that no matter what type you chose to purchase – you’ll probably see an average of 1 to 3 years of usage before you’re buying a replacement. The weight of people lounging on them season after season coupled with how they are stored will play a factor in how long they last. Obviously, heavy-duty floats will typically last a bit longer than cheaper ones and are recommended for full-sized adults.

Choosing The Best Pool Float

Choosing the best pool float boils down to preference. If you’re the type of person that doesn’t relish the thought of huffing and puffing to inflate 100 pool floats for children and guests, an air compressor or portable float pump may be a smart accessory to purchase. Likewise, foam floats and pool noodles are always great standbys as well.

Thanks for reading, Will. There are actually a couple of really good ones I can recommend. Check out Aquatic Floatation Aid – it’s meant for disabled adults that can support themselves in an upright position but have trouble walking.

Rebellious Dog Goes Viral For Swimming Pool Antics

Rebellious dog ‘Buster’ is a labrador on a mission, to maximize his playtime in the pool no matter how late his owners are for work.

Rebellious Dog 'Buster' Goes Viral For Swimming Pool Antics

Labrador Buster has proven himself a true water aficionado, delighting in extending his pool time while simultaneously driving his owners crazy. The rebellious dog has gone viral for his disobedient pool antics.

In a viral video uploaded on TikTok by user bustersworld4, Buster’s aquatic escapades take center stage as he indulges in regular swims in the family pool.

While swimming serves as excellent exercise for Buster, it comes with the slight inconvenience of occasionally delaying his owners’ departure for work.

The video, posted on October 28, captures Buster’s playtime as his owner attempts to coax him out of the swimming pool. Despite briefly complying, Buster swiftly returns to his aquatic playground, prompting the caption, “Why are you always late for work?”

@bustersworld4 Wonder why we are always running late for everything! #bustersworld #dogsoftiktok #dogs #funnydogsoftiktok #funnydogvideos ♬ original sound – Buster’sworld

Various tactics, from sweet talk to feigned indifference, are employed to lure Buster from the pool, with intermittent success. However, Buster’s persistent affinity for the water continually disrupts his owners’ schedules. Clearly, this dog just loves the pool.

Acknowledging Buster’s spirited nature, bustersworld4 responds to a commenter, affirming, “He’s a handful, but we love him and he loves his pool.”

Since its upload, the video has garnered over 4.6 million views and more than 508,100 likes. Effervescent and endearing, Buster’s pool antics resonate with dog lovers and evoke a shared appreciation for the joys of canine companionship in the pool.

Buster’s owners are clearly not the only dog lovers having this problem. Another video entitled “Dog Says No” shows just how difficult it can be to get our four-legged friends out of the pool once playtime is over.

Exploring the phenomenon of dogs’ love for swimming, PetMD highlights the role of physiology and early exposure to water. Certain dog breeds such as the Labrador exhibit a natural inclination towards swimming, often attributed to their breeding history and inherent characteristics. As PetMD notes, these breeds have historically been relied upon for tasks closely associated with water activities, such as retrieving game from the water, assisting in maritime endeavors by retrieving items fallen overboard, and even facilitating communication between boats.

Over time, many of these breeds have maintained their affinity for water-related activities, finding joy and fulfillment in tasks that involve retrieving objects from aquatic environments. Their innate talents and predisposition for such tasks make them well-suited for roles that require swimming proficiency.

Which dog breeds love to swim? According to PetMD some dog breeds are better suited for swimming than others.

Dogs In The Pool

While it’s undeniable that watching our canine companions frolic in the pool brings immense joy, it’s essential to prioritize their safety and well-being. Allowing dogs to indulge in aquatic activities can provide valuable exercise and mental stimulation, enhancing their overall quality of life. However, responsible pet ownership entails taking necessary precautions to mitigate any potential risks associated with pool access.

One vital safety measure is the installation of a secure pool cover when the pool is not in use. A sturdy cover serves as a barrier, preventing accidental falls and ensuring that curious pups don’t venture into the water unsupervised. Additionally, maintaining proper fencing around the pool area can further restrict access and minimize the risk of accidents.

Furthermore, diligent supervision is paramount whenever dogs are near the pool. Even breeds known for their swimming prowess can encounter unforeseen challenges or fatigue, necessitating human intervention. By remaining vigilant and attentive, pet owners can swiftly respond to any emergencies and ensure a safe swimming experience for their furry friends

Travelers Weary of Being Charged Extra For Swiming Pool Access

In the realm of modern travel, the allure of hotel and resort swimming pools have long been a symbol of relaxation and luxury. However, recent trends in the hospitality industry have seen the tranquil waters of these oases clouded by the specter of additional fees. Across various hotel chains, from Hilton to InterContinental, the imposition of hotels charging for pool access has left travelers questioning the value of their stay and the fairness of these newfound expenses.

Hotels Testing The Waters on Additional Fees

Lately, some hotels have embarked on trials, testing the waters of guests willingness to pay extra for a swim. Hilton, for instance, introduced pool fees in select locations, citing investment in facility enhancements as justification. Yet, the backlash was swift and fierce, prompting a retraction of the policy and raising broader questions about the evolving dynamics of hotel pricing.

Accor’s Municipal Liverpool and the InterContinental hotel near London’s O2 arena similarly dabbled in pool fees, only to backtrack in the face of public outcry. These experiments underscore the delicate balance hotels must strike between revenue generation and guest satisfaction. For travelers, the imposition of additional charges for what was once considered a standard amenity feels like a betrayal of trust and a departure from the expected standards of hospitality.

The practice of charging for pool access is not unique to Western hotels; in Japan, it’s more commonplace, reflecting cultural norms around payment for amenities. In Las Vegas, resort fees are commonplace with hotels typically charging additional fees that cover extra amenities at a property, such as high-speed Wi-Fi, access to the swimming pool, or fitness center. However, when it comes to resort fees, relief may soon be on the horizon. During his 2023 State of the Union address, President Joe Biden expressed his desire for his administration to tackle what he called “junk fees” through newly proposed rules by the Federal Trade Commission and the Consumer Finance Protection Bureau.

Will Charging Extra Become The New Norm?

Whether charging extra for swimming pool access at hotels will become the new norm remains a subject of debate within the hospitality industry and among travelers.

On one hand, proponents argue that charging for pool access allows hotels to offset operational costs, invest in facility enhancements, and potentially offer a more exclusive experience for guests willing to pay for it. Additionally, they assert that it’s a way to ensure that amenities are not underutilized or crowded, thus enhancing the overall guest experience.

Critics Sound Off On Fees

However, critics contend that additional fees for amenities like pool access undermine the perceived value of a hotel stay and erode trust between guests and establishments. Many travelers expect certain amenities, such as swimming pools, to be included in the base price of their accommodations.

On Reddit, one user recently posed a seemingly simple yet surprisingly contentious question: “Is it normal to have to pay extra to use the swimming pool in a hotel?”

User Noblerotter chimed in with a straightforward assertion: “I’ve never paid extra to use a hotel pool if I’m staying there.” While another used dubbed Hamstereagle took a more critical stance, dismissing the notion of additional fees as a mere pretext to grab more money from guests.

At the heart of the issue lies the escalating costs of hotel stays. With room rates steadily climbing, guests increasingly scrutinize the value proposition of their accommodations. Amenities like pool access, once taken for granted, are now subject to additional charges, leading travelers to question the true cost of their stay and the extent to which they are being nickel-and-dimed.

The trend of unbundling amenities and charging for each separately reflects broader industry patterns of cost-cutting and revenue maximization. From exorbitant minibar fees to non-optional valet parking, hotels risk alienating guests with a piecemeal approach to pricing. Such practices not only erode trust but also detract from the overall guest experience, leaving travelers feeling exploited and undervalued. Whether these fees become a permanent fixture or fade into obscurity remains to be seen. In the meantime, travelers are left to weigh the cost of a refreshing swim against the price of their overall stay, grappling with the notion that relaxation and luxury may come at a premium they hadn’t anticipated.
