Typically, swimming pools are excellent sources of enjoyment, relaxation, and entertainment. For most pool contractors, it’s often about transforming backyard spaces into a serene haven. Consequently, pool builders come up with exceptional pool builds and designs. The PHTA Awards of Excellence take time to appreciate the creativity behind spectacular pool builds and designs. Let’s take a look at some of the year’s Gold-winning projects.

Van Kirk & Sons Pools & Spas, Deerfield Beach, Fla.
Picture this, a zero-edge pool located on the second floor of your property. Sounds fascinating, right? This high-end pool is a Van Kirk & Sons creation and was specially built to boost the property’s aesthetics. Constructing such a pool design was challenging for the renowned company since they dealt with an elevated landscape. The builders managed to include dark custom tiles and a gray decking to accentuate the area. The floating fire feature on the pool makes it a world-class pool.

Ryan Hughes Design, Palm Harbor, Fla.
The Ryan Hughes Design is an outstanding pool design that incorporates a Pebble Tec finish and several water features. This pool design is undoubtedly a major tourist attraction due to its exclusive aesthetics. Additionally, the Ryan Hughes design also has a tanning ledge, outdoor kitchen, raised spa, vanishing edge, and fire features to create a warm and cozy atmosphere in your backyard. On the other hand, the LED lights switch up the pool into a glowing oasis at night.

J.Brownlee Design, Franklin, Tenn.
The J.Brownlee design was an idea of a Tennessee family who wanted to add a while news charm to their backyard. They wanted to modify their yard space into a luxurious resort using a European-themed pool design. The pool designer for the project delivered mind-blowing results. The pool has a spillover spa, grotto, water fountain, fire features, octagonal diving pool, and custom-made glass tiles. All these features blended with the expensive pool to create one of the best exceptional pool build and designs.

Almar Jackson Pools, Jupiter, Fla.
The pool builders and designers of the Almar Jackson Pool design were smart enough to make the most out of the complex landscape. They created the pool with a spillover spa and a beach entry to make good use of the uneven landscape. They then blended the features with a stunning waterfall that emanates soothing and relaxing sounds in your backyard.

Pool Environments, Plano, Texas
This 11 by 15-foot pool incorporates dark glass tile on its edges to promote the yard’s aesthetics. Moreover, the Chris Polito and Kevin Clark pool design is built parallel to the house structure. Thus, the backyard offers open-concept living. The pool also has a spa and a unique fire feature; hence it creates the perfect chill spot in your backyard.

River Pools and Spas, Warsaw, Va.
River Pools and Spas came up with a spectacular inground pool design that gives the yard a woodland charm. The pool incorporates twenty-first-century decking and a water feature bridge. The pool lighting also makes it look exceptional and underscores every other pool feature. The design undoubtedly makes the yard area look like a premium holiday destination.

Elite Landscaping, Omaha, Neb.
Another exceptional pool build and design is the Elite landscaping. This pool involved a complicated construction process, but reliable and experienced pool builders love such challenges. So, Jason Decker was willing to make this project a success. He used a natural waterfall and a fire pit to give the yard a natural feel. Not to mention, the aesthetics accompanying this pool are mind-blowing.

Superior Pools of Southwest Florida, Port Charlotte, Fla.
A spectacular pool design created by Jon Krawczyk serves as a true beauty for one of the properties in Florida. The pool area allows natural light into the pool and has spillway bowls to boost aesthetics. The lounging area in the pool also offers great functionality and aesthetics. This pool is 22 by 38 feet and is 3 to 7 feet deep.

J&M Pool Company, Senoia, Ga.
J&M built a stunning vinyl liner pool designed by Patrick Studley. The vinyl pool contains a stone spillway from an elevated spa. This pool design also offers excellent functionality due to its size; it is 20 by 44 feet.

Cody Pools, Georgetown, Texas
Cody pools came up with a vanishing edge pool with waterfalls, stone coping, and a raised spa. The pool design also incorporates a smooth, gradual entry to the pool that makes swimming experiences more fun. The infinity-edge pool is now a world-class pool due to its unique aesthetics.

Covertech, Southampton, N.Y.
One of the exceptional pool builds, and designs is an acrylic-walled pool constructed next to a four-story mansion. Trees encompass the pool to create the most tranquil atmosphere around the area. The best thing about this pool is that it has an inbuilt cover on the floor. So, when the pool is not in use, the translucent cover automatically comes up. The pool lights accentuate all the water features of the pool.

Today, there are numerous exceptional pool builds and designs. Most homeowners are now looking at how to spice up their yards using exceptional pool builds and designs. Luckily, you can always customize your pool and make your yard dreams a reality.

Ceramic Tile Coalition Files Anti-Dumping Appeal with USCIT

(Clemson, SC) — On Monday, June 23rd, the Coalition for Fair Trade in Ceramic Tile (Coalition) filed a Complaint with the U.S. Court of International Trade (USCIT) following the Summons it filed on May 23rd, contesting certain aspects of the final determination issued by the U.S. Department of Commerce (“Commerce”) in its antidumping investigation of ceramic tile from India. The final determination was published by Commerce in the Federal Register as Ceramic Tile from India: Final Negative Determination of Sales at Less Than Fair Value and Final Negative Determination of Critical Circumstances, 90 Fed. Reg. 17030.
In the Complaint, the Coalition challenged Commerce’s handling of the affiliates of the largest Indian exporters, Commerce’s accepting of new information during on-site verification, and Commerce’s handling of scrap in the tariff calculation.
“As we previously noted, by statute, Commerce is time-limited in its investigation, at a time when more trade remedy actions were launched than at any other point in Commerce’s history,” said Eric Astrachan, executive director of the Coalition. “We are truly sympathetic to the obstacles Commerce investigators faced, but we firmly believe Commerce didn’t have all the facts at hand to decide this case.”
“In particular, for their own financial well-being, we want the importer and distributor community to be aware that any finding resulting in an anti-dumping tariff should be retroactive to April 23, 2025,” added Mr. Astrachan. “That tariff may be substantial,” noted Andrew Whitmire, trade data analyst for the Tile Council of North America. “Anyone tracking the world prices for ceramic tile knows that once Commerce has all the requisite information, a dumping tariff is entirely possible.”
About Tile Council of North America (TCNA)
TCNA is a trade association representing manufacturers of ceramic tile, tile installation materials, tile equipment, raw materials and other tile-related products. Established in 1945 as the Tile Council of America (TCA), it became the Tile Council of North America (TCNA) in 2005, reflecting its membership expansion to all of North America.
The Tile Council is recognized for its leadership role in facilitating the development of North American and international industry quality standards to benefit tile consumers. Additionally, TCNA regularly conducts independent research and product testing, works with regulatory, trade, and other government agencies, and publishes installation guidelines, tile standards, economic reports, and promotional literature.
