Highest Infinity Pool in the United States opens in Brooklyn

Brooklyn has the disinction for claiming many titles, some of them real, some imagined. The borough itself tends to get a lot of notoriety. Not only because of the many personalities, athletes, authors, entertainers and celebrities that call the borough home (I myself was originally born and raised in Brooklyn), but because of its close proximity to Manhattan. Let’s face it when you think highest inifinity pool in the United States, one’s brain doesn’t immediately make the connection with Downtown Brooklyn.

Yet here it is, in all it’s glory. Towering 68 stories above a bustling downtown area, that was once the symbol of urban blight & rampant criminality during the 70’s and 80’s. The backdrop of the entire downtown area has changed considerably. The rundown reputation of Downtown Brooklyn has been wiped away by the last twenty years of gentrification that first started during the Giuliani adminstration.

Highest Infinity Pool in the United States

There is no greater symbol to the transformation of Downtown Brooklyn than Brooklyn Point. Brooklyn’s tallest residential building now hosts the Western Hemisphere’s highest infinity pool that offers breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline. While definitely not the highest infinity pool in the world (that distinction belongs to The Address Beach Resort in Dubai), it certainly is the highest in the United States.

Perched at the top of the 68th floor, the infinity pool sits a full 680 feet up from the ground floor. Designed by world famous architectual firm Kohn Pedersen Fox back in 2018, the project took 3 years to complete. Offering incredible panoramic views from inside the heated pool, residents can enjoy a dip from spring through fall.

This one of a kind pool isn’t a testament to the achievements of modern pool design. Basically we are talking about a simple and elegant infinity pool. It’s not tricked out with every amenity and feature one could want in a luxury pool but it doesn’t have to be. The view and backdrop of Manhattan is a feature you won’t find anywhere else in the world. With that said, the mosaic glass tile pool interior is tastefully done and beautiful to look at. The pool itself is surrounded by lounge chairs for sunbathing and socializing on a Brazilian ipe-wood deck flanked by planters loaded with flowers, plants, and trees.

Outdoor showers, changing facilities, and lots of space for alfresco dining will be available on the pool deck. The deck area will also include an astronomy observatory and area for open-air movie screenings.

Is all of this just making you want to move right in? Well, a spot in one of the 483 luxury apartments comes with a pretty price tag that starts at around $900,000. If you’re thinking about buying the penthouse though you can forget it, Nets point guard Spencer Dinwiddie purchased it for $3.9 million back in 2019.
