Pentair Supports National Water Safety Month As Program Sponsor

(Alexandria, Va.) — The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA), the trade association representing the swimming pool, hot tub, and spa industry, is pleased to announce that Pentair will once again serve as Program Sponsor for National Water Safety Month (NWSM) this May. Pentair, an industry-leading manufacturer of pool and spa solutions, will help reinforce the lifesaving message of the NWSM coalition and raise awareness of water safety best practices for families and aquatic facilities across the country.
NWSM began as a one-week awareness campaign in 2003 and, over the last 21 years, has grown into a national effort spearheaded by a dedicated coalition that includes PHTA, the American Red Cross, the National Drowning Prevention Alliance, and National Recreation and Park Association, and the World Waterpark Association. Every year, NWSM is supported by thousands of aquatics facilities, professionals, and state governments who provide educational programs, public service announcements, government proclamations, dealer and aquatics business promotions, and the distribution of water safety materials, all designed to help prevent water-related fatalities, illnesses, and injuries.
“At Pentair Pool, we help people safely and sustainably enjoy water. And, safety is more than a priority — it’s at the core of our values and the foundation for how we conduct business,” says Greg Claffey, Group President for Pentair Pool. “National Water Safety Month is time to reflect and act on the importance of pool safety innovation and education in creating a safer environment for everyone, from pool owners to pool service professionals.”
Pentair provides residential and business solutions that help people move, improve, and enjoy their water. The company’s sustainable innovations and applications help deliver smart, sustainable solutions for life. Part of their mission is to help pool owners spend less time worrying and more time enjoying their pool.
“Pentair continues to elevate the pool, spa, and hot tub industry through its commitment to water safety,” says Sabeena Hickman, CAE, President and CEO of PHTA. “As the Program Sponsor of National Water Safety Month, Pentair understands that every enjoyable aquatic experience begins with safety. Their support, not just in May but throughout the entire year, helps raise consumer awareness and truly saves lives.”

Nidec Names New Pool/Spa Motors National Account Manager

ST. LOUIS, MO – October 21, 2026 – Nidec, a manufacturer of electric motors and drives, has announced the promotion of Atticus Edge to National Account Manager for the pool and spa industry.
In his new role, Edge is responsible for the Pool/Aftermarket Motor business, managing Nidec’s U.S. MOTORS® network of sales representatives and supporting key national pool supplier accounts. He works closely with customers and sales partners to drive growth and deliver strong support across the pool aftermarket channel.
Edge joined Nidec two years ago, serving in various engineering roles. Most recently, he supported the Variable speed and Neptune® motor platforms as a mechanical engineer, where he developed strong technical expertise and product knowledge.
“As pool pumps and motors become more complex, pool service professionals often need expert guidance in selecting and programming pump motors,” said Steve O’Brien, National Sales Director at Nidec. “Atticus is already proving himself in this role as he applies his education and knowledge to benefit pool service professionals and distributors.”
Variable speed motors are now required by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for most pool applications, including replacement motors. Nidec’s Neptune line of pool pump motors offers energy savings plus the ability to replace only the failed motor, rather than the entire pump.
With these technical advantages, Edge said the Neptune line has become a popular replacement motor for the pool industry. “We’re pleased to be able to offer service reps, and in turn their pool customers, these high-efficiency motors that meet or exceed DOE regulations.”
Prior to joining Nidec, Edge worked for Spec-Tech Industrial Electric as an assembly and testing tech. He also completed an internship at Neff Power. Edge holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Saint Louis University.
