A High-Performance Heat / Chill Pump Without the Excess Noise

VersaTemp Jandy Fluidra pump

NEW Jandy® VersaTemp Heat/Chill Pump provides energy-efficient heating and cooling of your pool and spa water with significantly less noise

SAN DIEGO – February 2022Fluidra, a leading manufacturer of innovative, energy-efficient pool equipment, introduces the new Jandy VersaTemp Heat / Chill Pump—engineered with the flexibility to warm up or cool down pool water while significantly reducing operational noise.

With a focus on advancing equipment technologies to offer easier installation and servicing for pool professionals along with increased efficiency and simple maintenance for pool owners, VersaTemp hits all the right notes.

Featuring a smaller footprint than comparable models, what truly sets VersaTemp apart is its SoundShield™ technology. Comprised of a swept-wing blade design that decreases wind turbulence as the internal fan spins and a decibel dampening acoustic blanket surrounding the compressor to help muffle the typically loud reverberation—VersaTemp is impressively quiet, giving pool owners a more enjoyable backyard experience.

The VersaTemp Heat / Chill Pump’s ability to both heat and cool makes it an ideal solution for year-round use (for outside air temperatures not exceeding 45°F).  Engineered with heat reversing technology that activates when internal sensors detect if/when ice forms on the outside coil while transferring heat into the pool or spa, VersaTemp automatically redirects heat to melt the ice quickly—allowing it to seamlessly continue heating pool water.

An eco-friendly way of heating the pool, VersaTemp draws heat from the air into the pool water. And for overly hot days when pool owners might want to cool off, it pulls heat from the pool—providing the best of both worlds without the need for a gas hookup and minus the carbon emissions at the appliance.

As more states look into passing regulations prohibiting the installation of gas-powered equipment, VersaTemp offers a viable option for pool owners who want to extend their swimming or spa season as the air begins to chill.  Combining power and performance, VersaTemp delivers increased heat output for more efficient and faster heating than other heat pumps on the market.

Intuitive and convenient to use, VersaTemp comes with an easy-to-access LCD control panel enabling touch-button operation to adjust individual set points for the pool, spa, or both. Its service-friendly design takes the guesswork out of troubleshooting, displaying self-diagnostic notifications written in wording that makes sense, in the language of choice.

As an added perk, VersaTemp is fully compatible with pool automation systems, and when used in conjunction with any AquaLink® automation system, an auto-heat feature maintains the pool’s temperature automatically and efficiently, 24 hours per day. It can also be controlled on the go using the highest-rated pool control app, iAquaLink®, so regardless of where the pool owner is, the heat settings can be adjusted so it’s the right temperature when they want to enjoy their pool or spa.

Dedicated to being a better partner to pool professionals, Fluidra’s Trade Series Exclusive Policy prohibits the sale of ALL Jandy equipment online, entailing VersaTemp models are for sale only by brick-and-mortar dealers and are not available for resale on the Internet. Pool professionals are encouraged to contact their local Fluidra representative for information or visit Jandy.com

ePropelled Unveils Energy-Efficient Electric Pump Motors

LOWELL, Mass. | December 6, 2022 – ePropelled, a provider of leading-edge electric propulsion systems and power generation solutions, today announced a new line of energy-efficient electric pump motors designed to be used with pools, spas, and industrial applications. The motors provide optimized energy efficiency, reduced noise, and are compact and lightweight. These innovations allow manufacturers to save energy and money, while delivering better overall value to customers.

Forrester data shows that 68% of consumers plan to increase efforts to identify brands that reduce environmental impact. At the same time, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) states that more than half of the electricity used in manufacturing powers various motors. ePropelled’s environmentally-friendly motors give industry and manufacturing leaders an opportunity to reduce harmful greenhouse emissions by replacing their motors and systems with improved designs.

Available immediately, ePropelled’s new line of six motors include:

  • SM1650 series for pool – A 1.65hp variable speed motor that is approximately 90% efficient with a programable interface.
  • SM1650 series for spa – A 1.65hp variable speed motor that is approximately 90% efficient.
  • SM3000 series for pool – A 3hp variable speed motor that is approximately 90% efficient with a programable interface.
  • SM3000 series for spa – A 3hp variable speed motor that is approximately 90% efficient.
  • SM1650 series for industrial applications – A 1.65hp variable speed motor designed for industrial environments such as large-volume fluid management, pressurizing water/fluid, chemical processing, water movement and more.
  • SM3000 series for industrial applications – A 3.0hp variable speed motor designed for industrial environments such as large-volume fluid management, pressurizing water/fluid, chemical processing, water movement and more.

All the Sustainability Motors are compact and lightweight for easier installation, and their quiet performance makes them more comfortable for consumers. Noise pollution is a problem with pump motors in general, whether for residential pools or other commercial uses. In addition, the new motors’ variable speed capabilities optimize pump motor efficiency, reduce energy costs, and allow manufacturers to easily add new features and functions.

“Our new energy-efficient electric pump motors have less impact on the environment and are powerful enough not only for pools and spas, but many other applications within industrial markets,” said Nick Grewal, CEO, president and founder of ePropelled. “Variable speed pump motors are more efficient, which creates more sustainable products, systems and operations and can reduce costs. This is a win-win for manufacturers and consumers alike.”

ePropelled is focused on designing and producing energy-efficient motors and related technology for a variety of sectors, with a particular focus on the industrial pump motor market. Target markets include HVAC, pool, spa, water and wastewater, and other large industrial applications. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), electric motors and systems account for about 40% of electricity consumption globally.

Kelli Clancy to pursue continuing education in pool building and design

(Alexandria, VA) — The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) has awarded the 2022 Greg Garrett Scholarship Award to Kelli Clancy, Owner of Legacy Pool & Spa. The winner was announced during the PHTA Awards of Excellence Reception at the International Pool | Spa | Patio Expo, co-located with Deck Expo (PSP/Deck Expo) on November 14, 2022, in Las Vegas, NV.

Given in the memory of Greg Garrett, who dedicated 45 years to the pool and hot tub industry and served in many leadership roles, this $5,000 scholarship is given to a PHTA member in the builder or service sector for PHTA educational or certification fees to increase professionalism and provide an opportunity for continuing education. The Greg Garrett Scholarship Award was newly developed this year by the PHTA Recreational Water & Air Quality Committee (RWAQC).

Clancy’s application stood out to the judges because of her commitment to the industry. She has volunteered much of her time to help others move their way up and expand their knowledge. In 2020, Clancy co-founded Pool Girl Pro Industry Trainings, which hosts educational training and networking opportunities for women in the pool and hot tub industry. Clancy has always been focused on continuing education and professional certifications and earned both her Certified Pool & Spa Operator (CPO) and Certified Pool & Spa Inspector (CPI) certifications through PHTA.

With the Greg Garrett Scholarship, Clancy is excited to move into the building and design sector by taking GENESIS® courses and earning additional certifications through the Certified Pool Builder & Design Professional Pathway.

“I look at education in this industry as ongoing, and I also believe in taking advantage of opportunities and living a life free of ‘what ifs.’ When I saw that PHTA had opened its application process for the Greg Garrett Scholarship Award, it was a no-brainer,” says Clancy. “My personal and professional convictions were standing on my shoulders, shouting, ‘Go for it!’ into my ears. I am so glad that I did.”
