Partnering with a Realtor to Grow Your Pool Business

Quality Gunite and Shotcrete Application for a Successful Pool Project

As a pool professional, partnering with a realtor can aid in the rapid growth of your pool business. For instance, a house with a pool on sale requires regular servicing. In the event the house sells, the buyer will need a pool service firm and probably reach out to the realtor for recommendations.

Partnering with a Realtor to Grow Your Pool Business

A pool professional’s reputation is important, and every realtor would want to work with a service firm that minds their reputation and vice versa. There are things that a professional pool looks for in a realtor and the other way around when looking for a partnership.

Where to start

When a realtor is looking to work or partner with a service professional, they choose based on recommendations they get from someone they know and trust the positive feedback given about their work. In the case of several recommendations, the next option is to check with google to rate their reviews and their business etiquette. Some of the key things to consider are such as if they answer phone calls, if they call back in a reasonable amount of time and if they are punctual on appointments. Moreover, how both parties connect on the first meet-up is important as the first impression always matter.

A pool professional who is new in the pool industry and has not yet done enough to earn a reputation or recommendations can still appeal to a realtor. In that scenario, one can approach the realtor over the internet with professional messages. Also, they can approach them with their business card. Whichever techniques are employed, the most important thing is that they follow up. The realtor may not need the services offered at the time. However, if you as a pool pro keep on following up, maintaining your pool business as a priority, if they do need you, makes it easier for them to reach out, even if out of sheer convenience.

What to look for

After employing a pool professional, there are a number of important factors to determine if you shall continue with the partnership. Below are a few of them;

Price

There is a saying that states that cheap is expensive. We often find ourselves in situations where you hire a cheap service firm that may end up disappointing you or even failing to show up. In the end, you may have to go for the expensive firm which you should have hired to begin with. Every individual you hire is an image of your pool business. So if a pool firm can ascertain their work is worth the price, it is better to pay the price.

Presentation

To attract professional persons and professional pricing, you have to look presentable. If a pool professional were to visit the site in an old worn-out truck and not organized, they probably did not run a high-quality business, nor did they value their pool business. Showing up organized, clean, and ready will build your credentials and also that of the realtor.

Punctual

A major challenge with most pool professionals is the failure to turn up. Failing to show up for a job is a deal-breaker for most realtors. A realtor does not need to keep calling to confirm where you are, which is a waste of both the seller and buyer’s time.

Communication

One of the distinctive elements of pool servicing is that it’s not always evident that a pool professional has serviced a pool. Maintaining open communication can fill this gap. As a service professional, send a text message before and after visiting the site so that the realtor can notify both the buyer and seller that the service is complete. To further offer reassurance, you can send pictures, especially if the job required several visits to the site. After all, seeing is believing.

Trust

It is a great feeling for the realtor when working with a pool service company, and they do not have to visit the site to affirm that everything is going well. It is priceless when a realtor trusts the pool professionals and only has to know when the job is complete, and after the assignment, they still maintain their good reputation.

The Prize

Realtors do a lot in marketing for various professionals because customers and other realtors are always looking for referrals.

For a realtor, referring a pool professional that they have confidence in and the one referred is happy about with the results is a win-win situation for both the realtor and the pool professional. The realtor gains confidence with the client and the pool business keeps on growing. If you partner with a realtor, they will soon be strong advocates of your pool business by marketing your services, which is vital for future growth and reputation.

Watson’s Accelerates Strategic Growth with Acquisition of Viridien Patio + Fireplace, Strengthening Southern U.S. Presence

Cincinnati, OH (May 18th, 2026) – Watson’s, one of the nation’s largest retailers of home recreational products and furnishings, today announced the acquisition of Charlotte, NC based Viridien Patio + Fireplace, the Carolinas premier destination for high-end outdoor furniture, outdoor kitchens, fireplace and hearth products.

The acquisition of Viridien further strengthens Watson’s Southern U.S. presence, building on its 2024 acquisition of Fort Myers, Florida-based Recreational Warehouse, while also expanding its leadership in the outdoor furnishings category overall. The addition of four Carolinas locations—Charlotte, Lake Norman, Raleigh, and Greenville—brings Watson’s total store count to 39. Following the acquisition, Watson’s will operate 23 corporate locations and 16 franchise and affiliate locations.

“Expanding into the Carolinas market has long been a strategic objective for us,” said Erik Mueller, CEO of Watson’s. “The market’s strength and sustained economic growth make it a natural fit for our continued expansion. Combined with Viridien’s strong team, shared values, proven business model, and established presence, this acquisition represents an excellent strategic alignment. We are excited to welcome the entire Viridien team into the Watson’s family and to continue delivering high-quality products and experiences that bring enjoyment and relaxation to families across the region. Looking ahead, we see meaningful
opportunities to expand our product offerings and further grow our presence throughout the state as we invest in and grow alongside the community.”

“Watson’s is a family business with a strong culture, an outstanding reputation, and values that closely align with our own. From the beginning, it was important to me to find a partner that truly understood what Viridien has been built on over the past 45 years — taking care of our employees, customers, and vendor partners while always operating with integrity and a long-term perspective. I genuinely don’t believe we could have found a better home for our business. This partnership creates exciting opportunities for growth while allowing us to preserve the culture, service, and relationships that have defined Viridien for decades,” said Grant W. Henegan, Owner and President of Viridien Patio + Fireplace.

Following the acquisition, Viridien will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Watson’s and will be branded as Viridien by Watson’s. Customers should continue to expect a seamless and premium experience, with the same high standards of product selection and exceptional customer service delivered by both Watson’s and Viridien.

Building on this most recent expansion, Watson’s continues to evaluate and pursue multiple avenues for growth across the U.S. “We see significant opportunity to continue scaling Watson’s through new store development and strategic acquisitions in both our existing and new markets,” said Mueller.

Founded in 1968, Watson’s is one of the nation’s largest retailers of home recreation products, offering outdoor furniture, spas, pools, saunas, billiards, indoor furnishings, and more.

Assisting in the acquisition were Cincinnati-based partners Katz Teller, Clark Schaefer Hackett and Charlotte-based partner Stump & Company.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
