Pentair Dives Into National Water Safety Month As Program Sponsor
(Alexandria, Va.) — The Pool & Hot Tub Alliance (PHTA) is pleased to announce that Pentair is returning to its role as Program Sponsor for National Water Safety Month (NWSM) this May. As a leader in the pool, spa, and hot tub industry, Pentair will help the NWSM coalition shine a spotlight on the importance of water safety and safe swimming practices as the country heads into peak swim season.
NWSM is proud to be celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. What began as a one-week awareness campaign in 2003 has grown into a national effort spearheaded by a dedicated coalition that includes PHTA, the American Red Cross, the National Drowning Prevention Alliance, and National Recreation and Park Association, and the World Waterpark Association. Every year, NWSM is supported by thousands of aquatics facilities, professionals, and state governments who provide educational programs, public service announcements, government proclamations, dealer and aquatics business promotions, and the distribution of water safety materials, all designed to help prevent water-related fatalities, illnesses, and injuries.
“Pentair is proud to be the National Water Safety Month program sponsor,” says Pentair’s Jerome Pedretti, Executive Vice President & Chief Executive Officer, Pool. “Our team believes that a safety-focused culture is critical to pool enjoyment. We support educating and raising awareness around swimming safety so that all can enjoy swimming pools with confidence.”
“PHTA and Pentair share similar missions, to help people enjoy water and aquatic experiences,” says Sabeena Hickman, CAE, PHTA President and CEO. “Having such a highly regarded company as Pentair serve as Program Sponsor for National Water Safety Month reinforces the importance of the live-saving messaging shared throughout the month. We hope everyone in the pool, spa, and hot tub industry can follow the example set by Pentair and make water safety a focus year-round.”
