Italy Warns Tourists to Abide by Pool Rules or Face Ejection

Heading to Italy for a summer getaway? While the country promises picturesque landscapes, sumptuous cuisine, and a rich cultural experience, there is a little-known rule that tourists must keep in mind when cooling off in the Italian public pools: the mandatory swimming cap! Yes, you read that right – Italy’s pool rules state that those luscious locks and stylish manes need to be covered up, or you risk being banned from the refreshing waters.
Italy Enforces Strict Pool Rules at Public Swimming Pools
The Italian swimming cap rule might raise a few eyebrows among visiting tourists, but it’s not just a quirky tradition. According to the travel-wise experts at Suncamp, the rule serves a vital purpose – keeping flakes of skin, hair, and other unwanted dirt out of the pristine pools. After all, who wants to share their splash zone with someone’s wayward hairs?
To ensure a harmonious swim for all, even children have to abide by this rule. Parents may find it a tad exasperating, but remember, it’s all for the sake of swimming pool sanctity! So, before you pack your sunscreen and water wings for your little ones, don’t forget those adorable swimming caps.
Now, we understand that you might worry about having to don an awkward cap that could cramp your style and impact your beach selfies. But fret not! Some campsites might offer a glimmer of hope by being exempt from this swimming cap obligation. So, be sure to check the pool regulations at your chosen destination.
For the absent-minded among us, who are prone to leaving essential items behind, panic not! If you forget to bring your swim cap, some public pools come to the rescue by selling or renting them out. Problem solved!
But wait, there’s more to Italy’s pool etiquette than just the swimming cap rule. As your feet will be getting up close and personal with the poolside, you’re required to wash them before taking the plunge. It’s a small price to pay for poolside paradise. And for those who love soaking up the sun, remember that topless sunbathing is usually off-limits in Italy. Sorry, folks, no au naturel sun-kissed beach bodies here!

Gentlemen, be forewarned: if you’re used to wearing baggy trunks for your aquatic adventures, you might be in for a surprise. In some European pools, including Italy’s, the dress code for men leans towards the iconic Speedo-style swimwear. So, embrace the European swimwear tradition or be prepared to watch from the sidelines.
Now, before you panic about having to navigate a labyrinth of different pool rules, take a deep breath. Rules do vary across accommodations, with each establishment dancing to the beat of its own flip-flops. So, while the swimming cap reigns supreme, other pool guidelines can differ wildly.
Ultimately, Italy’s strict swimming pool rules might add a splash of surprise to your holiday plans, but they also contribute to a cleaner and more enjoyable experience for everyone. So, pack that quirky swim cap, wash your feet, and get ready to dive into the magic of Italy’s public pools. Just remember, when in Italy, do as the Italian swimmers do! Buon viaggio e buon divertimento! (Safe travels and have fun!)

Nidec Names New Pool/Spa Motors National Account Manager

ST. LOUIS, MO – October 21, 2026 – Nidec, a manufacturer of electric motors and drives, has announced the promotion of Atticus Edge to National Account Manager for the pool and spa industry.
In his new role, Edge is responsible for the Pool/Aftermarket Motor business, managing Nidec’s U.S. MOTORS® network of sales representatives and supporting key national pool supplier accounts. He works closely with customers and sales partners to drive growth and deliver strong support across the pool aftermarket channel.
Edge joined Nidec two years ago, serving in various engineering roles. Most recently, he supported the Variable speed and Neptune® motor platforms as a mechanical engineer, where he developed strong technical expertise and product knowledge.
“As pool pumps and motors become more complex, pool service professionals often need expert guidance in selecting and programming pump motors,” said Steve O’Brien, National Sales Director at Nidec. “Atticus is already proving himself in this role as he applies his education and knowledge to benefit pool service professionals and distributors.”
Variable speed motors are now required by the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for most pool applications, including replacement motors. Nidec’s Neptune line of pool pump motors offers energy savings plus the ability to replace only the failed motor, rather than the entire pump.
With these technical advantages, Edge said the Neptune line has become a popular replacement motor for the pool industry. “We’re pleased to be able to offer service reps, and in turn their pool customers, these high-efficiency motors that meet or exceed DOE regulations.”
Prior to joining Nidec, Edge worked for Spec-Tech Industrial Electric as an assembly and testing tech. He also completed an internship at Neff Power. Edge holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Saint Louis University.
